AfCFTA Conference on Women and Youth in Trade

The council participated in the AfCFTA Conference on Women and Youth in Trade which was organised by the AfCFTA Secretariat in conjunction with the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania on 12 - 14 September 2022, in Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania.

The Conference, held under the theme “Women and Youth; The Engine of AfCFTA Trade in Africa”, provided a platform for women in trade, policy makers, development partners, financiers, and other key stakeholders on the continent to discuss, in depth, perspectives on women and youth in trade. The overall objective was to develop policy proposals for the draft Protocol. The conference helped to design concrete solutions that enhanced the ability of women and youth to take advantage of opportunities offered by the AfCFTA.

The council working closely with Youlead Africa, United Nations Commission for Africa (UNECA) led the youth proposition harvesting session which was key at ensuring the conference met its objective of developing a draft on the youth chapter of the protocol.
