Overview

Pan-African Payments and Settlements System (PAPSS) was launched at the 12th Extra-Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of States and Governments held in July 2019.

Commercial launch of the PAPSS on the 13th January 2022.
The pilot for PAPSS was focused on the West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ). • Nigeria and Ghana concluded a 1 st successful transaction via PAPSS in October, 2022.
PAPSS will save Africa over $5 billion annually due to foreign currency exchange and promote the use of African currency in trade.
