Pan-African Payments and Settlements  System (PAPSS) was launched at the 12th Extra-Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of States and Governments held in July 2019.

  • Commercial launch of the PAPSS on the 13th January 2022.
  • The pilot for PAPSS was focused on the West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ). • Nigeria and Ghana concluded a 1 st successful transaction via PAPSS in October, 2022.
  • PAPSS will save Africa over $5 billion annually due to foreign currency exchange and promote the use of African currency in trade.
