Overview

The Charter is not another programme for youth. It is a practical accountability framework that helps youth traders and their organisations know, exercise, monitor and advocate for trade-related rights and commitments.

1. KNOW: Understand applicable rights, obligations, procedures and opportunities.

2. EXERCISE: Use available information, participation and redress mechanisms.

3. MONITOR: Document barriers and assess implementation.

4. ADVOCATE: Engage duty-bearers and pursue evidence-based reforms.

Why a Youth in Trade Charter?

To deepen the meaningful participation of young people in intra-African trade. Because commitments only matter when young traders can understand them, exercise them, participate in the systems that govern them, challenge implementation gaps, and obtain appropriate redress. The end is not “more activities”. The end is meaningful participation + accountability + inclusive socioeconomic development.
